SAF inputs calculator
Given a target SAF volume and pathway, see the inputs required, the saleable side-products, the residuals, and the ceilings the request approaches.
This calculator is the companion to Sustainable Aviation Fuel — From Feedstock to Fuel (Working Paper 03 / 2026). The paper sets out a producer-agnostic process network for the principal certified SAF and e-SAF pathways; the calculator runs that network backwards — given a target SAF tonnage and a pathway choice, it returns what the network demands and what it produces alongside the jet.
The model is the same single source of truth that produces the paper’s exhibits, so the answer you see here and the figures in the paper are derived from the same tables with the same version stamps. The output is deliberately quantities, not a bill: feedstock and energy in their native units, side-products and residuals as separate streams, and a small set of traffic lights flagging the ceilings each request approaches. Production-cost numbers are out of scope by design — they live in Exhibit 2 of the paper where the assumptions can be made explicit.
